Finally Understand What’s Driving Your Symptoms

A personalized, guided approach to root-cause health — not more guesswork.

You’ve been told your labs are ‘normal’. You’ve adjusted your diet, your sleep, your stress. But something still doesn’t feel right, and you’re tired of not having answers.

At Root & Branch Wellness, we help you connect the dots. Using advanced functional testing, herbal medicine, supplements, pillars of health and a personalized protocol built around your biology, we identify what’s actually happening beneath the surface, and create a clear path forward.

Is This You?

  • You’ve been told your labs are normal but you still feel exhausted, off, or not like yourself

  • Hormone imbalances, irregular or heavy periods, or unexplained weight changes

  • Digestive issues, bloating, or gut problems that haven’t resolved

  • Autoimmune conditions, chronic inflammation, or recurring illness

  • Fatigue, brain fog, or low energy that doesn’t improve with rest

  • Stress, burnout, or a sense that your cortisol and adrenals are running on empty

  • You’ve been exposed to mold, heavy metals, or environmental toxins and still feel the effects

  • You take supplements but aren’t sure they’re actually working

  • You want real answers, not another prescription to manage a symptom

If any of this resonates, you’re in the right place.

How It Works

Each phase builds on the last, giving us the data we need ot make truly informed decisions and giving your body the time it needs to respond.

Month 1: Discover

We begin with an in-depth review of your health history, symptoms, and goals. Advanced laboratory testing is ordered and your initial personalized protocol begins — targeted supplements, nutrition guidance, and lifestyle recommendations with a clear step-by-step roadmap.

Month 2: Respond

We review your lab results in full and discuss exactly what they mean for you. Your protocol is refined based on how your body has responded, and we go deeper on the nutritional and lifestyle interventions most relevant to your results.

Month 3: Optimize

We assess your progress across all areas, make final protocol adjustments, and map out what comes next. You leave with a clear long-term strategy and a real understanding of your own biology.

Advanced Testing, Personalized to You

No two patients receive the same panel. Testing is selected based on your specific history, symptoms, and goals and ordered at our wholesale practitioner pricing as part of the program. Below are the specialty tests we use most frequently and why they matter.

Laboratory testing is billed separately. Most patients invest between $300–$800 in testing depending on their clinical picture.

  • For patients with digestive symptoms, bloating, autoimmune concerns, or a history of gut infections.

    WHAT IT IS

The GI-MAP is a DNA-based stool test that gives us a precise picture of what's living in your gut — including bacteria, parasites, viruses, and fungi — and how your digestive system is functioning overall. Unlike conventional stool tests, it detects organisms at very low levels and identifies imbalances that standard labs routinely miss.

    WHAT IT MEASURES

    • Pathogenic bacteria, parasites, and H. pylori

    • Gut microbiome diversity and beneficial bacteria levels

    • Candida and other fungal overgrowth

    • Intestinal inflammation markers (calprotectin, secretory IgA)

    • Digestive enzyme sufficiency and fat absorption

    • Zonulin — a marker of intestinal permeability (leaky gut)

    • Viral markers including Epstein-Barr reactivation in the gut

    WHO IT'S FOR

Anyone dealing with bloating, gas, irregular bowel habits, food sensitivities, skin issues, autoimmune conditions, or a history of infections, antibiotics, or international travel. Also essential for patients with a family history of Crohn's, colitis, or celiac disease.

  • For patients with hormone-related symptoms — fatigue, mood changes, weight gain, period problems, sleep disruption, or low libido.

    WHAT IT IS

The DUTCH Complete is the most comprehensive hormone test available. It goes far beyond standard blood panels by measuring not just your hormone levels, but how your body is metabolizing and clearing them — information that is critical for understanding why symptoms persist even when levels look 'normal.' It also includes a full cortisol rhythm mapping throughout the day, which standard labs don't capture.

    WHAT IT MEASURES

    • Estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone — levels and metabolites

    • DHEA and androgen pathways

    • Full diurnal cortisol rhythm (morning through night) and cortisol awakening response

    • Melatonin — sleep and circadian rhythm

    • Hormone detoxification pathways (methylation, oxidative stress markers)

    • Organic acid markers for B vitamin status, neurotransmitter metabolism, and oxidative stress

    WHO IT'S FOR

Anyone with PMS, PMDD, irregular or heavy periods, perimenopause, menopause, low libido, mood changes, unexplained fatigue, poor sleep, or weight gain that doesn't respond to diet and exercise. Also ideal for patients currently on hormonal birth control or HRT who want a complete picture of their hormonal landscape.

  • For patients asking why they still feel exhausted, foggy, or depleted — despite eating well and taking supplements.

    WHAT IT IS

The Metabolomix+ is a comprehensive organic acids and nutritional assessment that looks at how your body is actually functioning at the cellular level. It's one of the most revealing tests we run — particularly for patients who've been exposed to mold or environmental toxins, suspect heavy metal burden, or who take supplements without knowing whether their body is actually using them. It answers the question conventional labs can't: not just what's in your body, but whether your cells are doing anything with it.

    WHAT IT MEASURES

    • Mitochondrial function and energy production pathways

    • Oxidative stress and antioxidant sufficiency

    • B vitamin status at the cellular level (B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B12, folate)

    • Amino acid sufficiency and protein metabolism

    • Neurotransmitter precursors — serotonin, dopamine, GABA pathways

    • Detoxification capacity and liver burden markers

    • Fatty acid metabolism

    • Gut dysbiosis markers (bacterial and yeast metabolites)

    • Mineral cofactors including magnesium, zinc, and manganese utilization

    WHO IT'S FOR

Patients with chronic fatigue, brain fog, mood imbalances, or poor recovery despite a healthy lifestyle. Especially valuable for anyone with a history of mold or water-damaged building exposure, heavy metal burden, chronic infections, or those who feel like their supplements 'aren't doing anything.' Also powerful for patients with anxiety or depression who want to understand the biochemical picture driving their symptoms.

  • A broader, more comprehensive look at the microbiome and gut-brain connection — including intestinal health, immune function, and neurological markers.

    WHAT IT IS

The Gut Zoomer by Vibrant Wellness is one of the most comprehensive gut panels available. It evaluates over 300 gut microbiome species alongside markers of intestinal health, immune function, and gut-brain communication. We use it when we want a wider view of the microbiome than the GI-MAP provides, or when a patient's symptoms extend beyond digestion into mood, cognition, or neurological territory.

    WHAT IT MEASURES

    • 300+ bacterial, viral, fungal, and parasitic species

    • Short-chain fatty acid production (butyrate, propionate)

    • Intestinal permeability and tight junction proteins

    • Immune activation markers (secretory IgA, LPS)

    • Gut-brain axis markers including serotonin production

    • Zonulin and intestinal inflammation

    • Bacterial overgrowth patterns

    • Correlations with autoimmune, metabolic, and neurological conditions

    WHO IT'S FOR

Patients with complex gut-brain presentations — anxiety, depression, or cognitive symptoms alongside digestive issues. Also ideal for patients who have already done a GI-MAP and need a broader microbiome picture, or those with suspected SIBO, autoimmune gut involvement, or neurological symptoms with no clear conventional explanation.

  • That's completely okay — and we'll know together. At the end of Month 3 we reassess where you are in your healing journey. Some patients transition into continued support visits or move into a new program phase depending on how much more we want to explore or optimize. You'll never feel dropped at the end of the program.

  • Not at all — that's exactly what we're here to figure out. Many of our patients come to us after years of being told their labs are normal or their symptoms are unexplained. We start by listening carefully and building a full picture before we order a single test.

  • We do not bill insurance directly. However, if you have a PPO plan, we can provide you with a superbill to submit to your insurance for possible reimbursement. Coverage varies by plan. We recommend calling your insurance provider prior to starting the program to ask about out-of-network benefits for functional medicine services.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Primary care is essential — and we work alongside your existing providers, not instead of them. The difference is in the depth of investigation. We use advanced specialty testing, spend significantly more time with you, and look at how your gut, hormones, immune system, metabolism, and lifestyle all interact. Our goal is to find the root cause — not manage the symptom.

  • Initial consultations and follow-ups are available both in-office in Redondo Beach and via telehealth for patients located in California. Laboratory kits are shipped directly to your home.

  • Book your Initial Functional Medicine Consultation through our online scheduler below. If you'd like to speak with us first, we're happy to schedule a brief complimentary meet-and-greet call — just email hello@rootbranchwellness.com.
